2-Day Private Tour from Casablanca to Chefchaouen, the Blue City

Two days, one night and the bluest streets in Morocco. A private trip from Casablanca to Chefchaouen, with a stop in Rabat and a morning photo walk.

  • 2 days
  • Casablanca
  • Private
  • From US$ 259 (€230) per person

Overview

Chefchaouen is the photo many people have saved long before they book their flight. This private tour from Casablanca to Chefchaouen gets you there comfortably, with a night in the blue city so you see it at its best: in the soft evening light and early in the morning, before the day-trippers arrive.

On the way north you stop in Rabat to stretch your legs by the ocean. Then the road climbs into the Rif mountains, and Chefchaouen appears on the slope, painted in every shade of blue. You spend the evening wandering its lanes, and the next morning your driver gives you time for a photo walk before the drive back.

It is a big round trip for two days, roughly four and a half to five hours each way, so this tour suits travelers short on time who want one unforgettable stop. If you can spare more days, Chefchaouen also features in our 8-day Morocco tour from Casablanca. Superior accommodation is available as an upgrade.

Highlights

  • Short stop in Rabat on the way north
  • Drive into the green Rif mountains
  • Evening and night in Chefchaouen, the blue city
  • Early-morning photo walk through empty blue lanes
  • Sunset view over the town from the Spanish Mosque hill (optional walk)
  • Private vehicle and driver for the whole trip

Itinerary

  1. Day 1 Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen

Pickup at your Casablanca hotel or at the airport in the morning. Drive about an hour to Rabat for a short stop: a walk to the Kasbah of the Udayas or the Hassan Tower, and a coffee with a view of the ocean. Continue north through farmland and then into the Rif mountains, with a lunch break on the way. You reach Chefchaouen in the afternoon. After check-in, head into the medina: the main square of Outa el Hammam, the red walls of the kasbah and endless blue alleys. If you have the energy, walk up to the Spanish Mosque for sunset over the town.

Overnight: Riad or guesthouse in Chefchaouen Meals: Dinner

  2. Day 2 Chefchaouen photo walk – Casablanca

Wake early. The first hours of the day are when Chefchaouen is quiet, with cats on the steps, shopkeepers opening doors and the light falling softly on the blue walls. Take your time on a morning photo walk, then enjoy breakfast at your riad. Around late morning your driver loads the luggage and starts the drive back south, with a lunch stop on the way. Arrival in Casablanca is expected in the late afternoon or early evening. We can also drop you at Rabat or at Casablanca airport if you are flying out the next morning.

What our travelers say

Highly recommended!

We had an amazing 4-day overland trip from Fes to Marrakech with Morocco Excursions, and I can’t recommend this company highly enough — especially our guide and driver, Hassan. From the moment he picked us up, we felt completely safe and taken care of. Hassan is a fantastic driver — something we appreciated even more after meeting other t…

Moroccan journey

My family and I planned our own 10-day itinerary in Morocco. We hired a car with a driver to travel with us and enjoy everything Morocco has to offer. Salem, our driver, was a great person: kind, always available, and not just our driver — he suggested things to do, places to see and where to stay, and explained his traditions and culture…

Frequently asked questions

Is two days enough for Chefchaouen?

Yes, for the highlights. The town is small, and with an afternoon, an evening and an early morning you see it at its quietest and most photogenic. If you prefer to rest after the drive, ask about adding a second night.

Why is Chefchaouen painted blue?

There are several stories, from Jewish families who settled here to keeping mosquitoes away. Today residents repaint the walls regularly, partly because the blue draws visitors from all over the world.

Can we start from Casablanca airport?

Yes. If your flight lands in the morning, your driver can meet you at arrivals and leave directly for Rabat and Chefchaouen. Be honest with yourself about jet lag; a night in Casablanca first can make the drive easier.

Can I upgrade the accommodation?

Yes. This tour has a superior upgrade with a more charming riad in Chefchaouen. You can choose it in the booking form, and the price per person is adjusted for you.

Any questions about this tour?

Send us a message, no commitment: we reply personally, usually within 24 hours. We can also adapt the route to your dates.
